Dance Plan

  • Manage technical errors better. Manage upload of files better, chapterwise sectioning and category updates.
  • Improve proofreading, updating later sections and crowdsourcing of errors. Anyone reading this, feel free to email (click on the icon at the bottom end of this page) me typos or any errors that are found. If I have not done a good job at writing any part of the notes, feel free to comment on the same, maybe also have guest posts by others. Add references.
  • As the semester picks up pace, need to plan, level up and optimize on all loose ends.
  • Preparation for non-rigid diagrams and comments is incomplete (easiest way to practice is to try typing up a video lecture at 1.5x speed, if this fails in the comfortable room/library environment its not going to work in the clasroom).
  • Preparations for typing the commutative diagrams live in Algebraic Topology are still under way, hopefully by midsem, the set up will be ready. However the focus post midsem may shift to Cohomology theories and all the operator declarations will have to change.
  • The basic stuff being taught in the first two weeks has been not so basic to type without prior experience. The complexity of courses will increase soon and it will be interesting to see if keeping up the typing along with understanding the material is possible.
  • Attacking the content has taken second priority while in class. Recording accurately what is being said and maintaining the right environments to type according to formats has occupied most of the free time to think in class. This will get natural over time and should take no more thought than that of underlining or formatting while handwriting.
  • TA duty has forced me to start missing one of the classses. So notes from one subject will not be available live.
  • Absence of Physics content is misleading. Statistical Mechanics, Computational Many body Physics, Electromagnetic Theory are already handwritten and being typed up. It’s just that the only time available to do this is on weekends and so far they have been used as breaks from uploading. Either expect uploads weekly or one single upload of the entire notes after the midsem week. Analytical and Geometric Dynamics is basically Classical Mechanics with added bonus of basic Riemannian geometry. Its better to start right off Classical Mechanics with Symplectic Geometry setup but due to lack of differential geometry backgorund it will only be introduced at the end. A critical Quantum Course has not been uploaded yet as only basics of solving Schrodinger Equation, potential wells and hydrogen atom are going on which most people have covered in 107, but once Clebsch Gordan is covered I will start uploading. Quantum Optics hasn’t really started quantum electrodynamics, still semi-classical theory which is standard is being done.
  • Discuss with people while walking to and from class, lunch, dinner. Meet more people, change dinner tables to sit with different people at different times if needed. Tallk to some non-engineering students- like design/ philosophy backgrounds. It helps immensely to discuss and explain concepts at a basic level to people from different fields.
  • Manage energy levels better by not going too hard in the morning lectures. Spread out energy more uniformly to stay active till night.
  • Prepare recall sections in advance. Most classes start with a reiteration of previous class or repeat what the previous class ended with. This headstart is valuable as once in lag, it becomes more and more difficult to keep up.
  • Music and films need more time, should probably attend scriptwriting or Introduction to Cinema but slot clash.
