Those who know me, know what this post means. I apologize to all who’s expectations have not been satisfied. At the same time, I reaffirm the principle of being satisfied with what we have. Expectations sometimes drive us too far from appreciating the magical everchanging now. Its not the end of the road, just that we will have to wait longer. A lot of dreams have been broken for a lot of people and I know its not easy to go through this period. But that’s exactly what makes it so crucial. To encaspulate it, I remember a dialogue from Little Miss Sunshine, in which Paul Dano’s character is asked what are the life moments he remembers the most and he says its those that wrecked him because those are the one’s that made him who he is today. There’s a lot more to gain from failures than playing it safe. Its when we fail, that we gain the inspiration to pick ourselves up again and reinvent our strategies. Failure and pain is what drives most of art or perhaps most of our lives. So there’s no need to be afraid of failing. In fact, we should look forward to failing everyday. Right here, I have failed to get a youtube channel for department lectures/seminar series. However this log is the closest attempt to accurately documenting and displaying work. I will keep trying and keep failing. I invite all to allow themselves to fail and experience the other side without hesitating.

Thoughts on the film

Relevant to what’s happening now is Darren Aronofsky’s psychological thriller film Requiem For A Dream. This counts as one of the most powerful films I have ever seen. Its difficult to forget this film for weeks to come once we see it. Indeed, if there’s a list of favorite movies that I can’t watch one more time, this would be on top of it. Its difficult to believe that Ellen Burstyn didn’t win an Oscar (although nominated) for her (literally) breathtaking performance. Jared Leto and Jennifer Connely were incredible in their roles. Binding together the concepts of Addiction, self-destrcution and dreams, this film portrays the extremes of human weaknesses and failure. Dreams and expectations are fundamental to humans but they can easily lead us into dangerous areas. Please watch the film for more.
