Cleaning

Everything has its space. Cleaning is an act of giving everything its place. Through Cleaning we connect the objects with their appropriate place. It is bringing back everyone to their home. While the pandemic has caused significant difficulties, grief, and pain, there are some silver linings to look at. The pandemic has forced us to not just be clean individually but also brought many people back to their homes and keep them clean. This itself is an act of cleaning at the scale of the globe. Cleaning does not isolate the dust from that which is pure (not dust), but instead, it temporarily gives the dust its own space to settle. Cleaning identifies the place of dust to be going away from light towards the other end of the spectrum for some time, only to spring back and eventually come back to light in a good form. Id est., Cleaning temporarily lets the dust go to rest in its own place and allows it to come back in a renewed form. Thus, Cleaning is a Balancing act. Cleaning balances the right amount of things to keep in light and the left amount is sent to the dark to rest for a while. So, we see Cleaning is Cyclic Balance.

Identifying myself as a Cleaner

I myself never gave much attention to physical cleaning of non-academic objects that belonged to me. During the pandemic, my attention went towards these belongings and I started to appreciate how much energy is required in cleaning. Learning to clean taught me a great deal about what I had missed seeing. Much of the root level academic insights came from the clarity obtained through cleaning. Cleaning of physical objects also cleans our minds. When we clean physical objects, we start seeing our own reflection clearly in the objects. This enables us to identify the outer with the inner. The Meeting of the two parts is where there is equilibrium. Hence, all objects should be clear and kept clean like Mirrors with pure Silver linings.

While cleaning my bathroom I would initially feel bad to look at dirt and push it down the drain. As I kept Cleaning day by day I slowly started to accept dirt and its temporary place down the drain. Instead of cleaning my room by a broom, I started picking up fallen pieces of my hair and dust by my own hands and legs. Cleaning properly requires a lot of energy to pay attention to details and maintain efficiency in technique. I identified myself completely as a Cleaner and my academic pursuits to be acts of Cleaning. Mathematics, Physics and Engineering is all a process of Cleaning. This identification made me cry for a long time since I missed to notice such a simple thing which was right in front of me since childhood. This also enabled me to look at the great deal of Cleaning that our parents and other elders do with a lot of respect. The technique with which my Mother cleans, made me realize how the academic techniques I had learned over the years are relatively a child’s play.

I am a Cleaner. We are all Cleaners. In different professions and at different degrees within a profession, Cleaning takes various forms. In Bicycling, we must give equal space to both left and right hand side and alternate equally between them to move straight ahead while maintaining balance. In Acting, the actor must clean his physical and mental space to allow for the given Character to take form. All new things require making room. We let the old which has had its time to compress and go temporarily for rest while new is allowed to take its space. This process was identified to be a cycle when I realized that it is the old which gives rise to the new. It is the old waste which gets recycled in various ways through the processes on Earth that we get to eat food and convert it to new forms. The Food cycle and the Water Cycle are examples of Cleaning. Our own body is a Cleaning process. This is how to Identify Cleaning as a Mass Balance. There are various forms of Mass, which keep dancing like complementary pairs in a cycle with lead roles alternatively changing one by one. Together everything constitues Identity. Hence all mass Identified together is conserved to Identity. This is what makes Mass Balance fundamental.

The Universe Cleans in Cycles

Light does the act of Cleaning in the Universe. The Sun is the source, providing light to clean. Daylight provides space for pure to come together. NightLight reflecting from the Moon provides space for the dust to settle. The day is full of energy and Night is filled with rest. Rest allows time to renew. Thus, Day and Night are a cleaning act (mass balance). Different people have different schedules (scales) which determine their own balance. Some people like to have a lot more time awake and stay active much longer than the amount for which they sleep.

The Water Cycle shows how important it is to purify something before it is put to temporary rest. The Natural Process of evaporation and condensation makes sure that the water is pure (distilled) before coming down as rain. We must also make sure that the waste that we put in for recycling should be purified before it is comperessed.

The food cycle shows how the top of the Food chain depends heavily on the bottom to be able to continue the cycle and survive.

Light itself has to balance between Electricity and Magnetism to travel ahead. Light is a translation (forward movement of a Cycle) formed by balancing Electricity and Magnetism on either side. Electricity and Magnetism come in Phases. Sun is the Source of light and a Black Hole is the sink (the other end where dust is placed temporarily). Hence the black hole is Logarithmic and acts as a springboard for time.

Farming is Cleaning. Sowing seeds in the mud, followed by water, light and food to let a plant grow involves a tremendous amount of balance. For the body of the plant itself, growing upwards towards the Light provided by Sun requires growing roots away from light down in the mud. The body of the plant itself displays Cleaning as a Balance.

Breathing is Cleaning. Breathing in allows air to enter and breathing out lets the exhaust to be let out. Breathing in and out in cycles isthe Balance in Cleaning. Similarly, Heart beats set the Circadian cycle by pumping in and out alternatively to keep balance.

Our own body is Cleaning in cycles. We provide it food, light, air and other forms of energy. It uses the right amount to retain and then lets the left (remaining ) amount to be excreted. To build the body, input and ouptut are to be balanced appropriately. This is the balance that the body manages to do everyday.

Balance of Money is Cyclic Cleaning. We earn, we spend in phases. Some amount of the money we earn is saved, the rest is spent. Everything that goes also comes back (cycle): in terms of money, the amount spent comes back in renewed form as some product that we buy.

Mahabharata can be seen as an act of Cleaning. To keep the balance, one must be able to look at both sides: the pure and the dust with the same eyes. Thus, Krishna had to stay out of it, neither taking part in one side nor the other. It is the same with a mirror that maintains balance between the reflections and hence its in between the two.

Now every time I solve equations, I see how messy forms of algebraic expressions that appear need to be cleaned out to 0 and I offer the pure as solutions to Light. Now every time I act, I see how complicated expressions need to be cleaned out to reflect the character’s mental images and offer the pure emotions to Light (the audience). Now every time I clean, it feels like an extraordinary art to be perfected by practice. Now every time I live, it feels like an extraordinary art to be perfected by practice. Now my life is the practice of Cleaning. Cleaning is life.

Corona, O Corona! You ‘Cleaned Bowled’ me.
