Identify that India Identifies

Since childhood I used to feel like there is no one to look up to in the field of fundamental Natural Sciences in India. All the famous, Bigshots and Prize winners to whom people looked up to seemed to be foreigners or Indians who were trained abroad. However, to my surprise, after having studied some parts of Fundamental Science, I have come to identify that India has always produced people who gave Fundamental Identities to the Universe.

• Aryabhata (आर्यभट) in their work Aryabhatiya gave the concept of zero as the Identity of Mathematics.

• Brahmagupta gave the symbol \(0\) to denote zero. This is ultimate cryptography. One symbol to denote the entire Universe as his Name suggests and he used a cycle (circle) to be that symbol. Further, the way in which he wrote is also very fundamental. Using elliptic Sanskrit, words such as “rupa” meaning forms and colors to Identify Mathematics and Astronomy with Nature.

• Satyendra Nath Bose provided ‘Boson’ as the Identity to particle form of Light. It makes Boson the fundamental Identity of particles.

• Raman Chandrasekhara Venkata provided Raman Scattering as the Language of Light’s communication with matter. The tremendous Experimental efforts made by him were within India.

• Srinivasa Ramanujan provided Ramanujan Theta function and nearly 3900 other Identities. He once said, “An equation for me has no meaning unless it expresses a thought of God.” His identities and conjectures gave rise to new areas where automorphic and modular forms were studied.

• Harish Chandra provided his “c-function” as the identity for intertwining operators in measure of semisimple Lie (read “Lee”) Groups.

Apart from Natural Sciences, we have seen plenty of Identities such as

• Gautama Buddha gave Buddhism as the Identity. To Identify with suffering ends it. Cycle of rebirth and Karma as a Cycle are the other Cyclic Identities that he gave.

• Rabindranath Tagore with his concept of universal freedom gave a fundamental Identity to Communication. India’s National Anthem is another Identity provided by him.

• Swami Vivekanada gave interfaith awareness with Hinduism as an example of it to religious world. Best known for his speech which began with the words - “Sisters and brothers of America…” in which he Identified people of a foreign land to be his own family.

• Chankaya (Kauṭilya or Vishnugupta) gave his work “Arthashastra” as the Identity of political science and economics.

• Mahatma Gandhi identified Nonviolence as the Identity of Interaction of forces. Allowing each other to smoothly meet and communicate each other’s differences is the harmonic way to bring together diverse forms. His “Charkha” was another Cyclic Identity which allowed people to work indegeneously. His Self-rule concept was another cyclic Identity which allowed India to be free.

• Jiddu Krishnamurthi gave “Observer is Observed” as the cyclic Identity to unify what is experienced and the experiencer. This lights the complete experience to be one which cannot be captured by an observer. It is the meeting of observer and the object where the cycle completes.

• Yogis and Sages of India who gave Yoga as the Identity connecting Physical and Mental Harmony. Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras provides the theory for Yoga practice.

• Sachin Tendulkar gave his batting style as the one which identifies bowlers universally. He is widely acknowledged as a God of Cricket.

• A. R. (Allahrakka) Rahman provided his Music compositions as the Identity.

• CEO’s of major Companies like Satya Nadella (Microsoft) and Sundar Pichai (Google) provide themselves as the Identity for the work of their company.
